Industry leaders gather for three days of golf and giving at the Second Annual H.H. Brown Invitational Golf Tournament.

Last month, H.H. Brown hosted its Second Annual H.H. Brown Invitational Charity Golf Tournament at the prestigious Agile Country Club. This major charitable event benefits organizations dedicated to helping China’s ailing and impoverished citizens as well as disadvantaged members of the footwear industry.

The exclusive VIP gathering and tournament took place over three days, November 1-3, 2006. A cooperative endeavor sponsored by H.H. Brown, with the generous support of various other U.S. manufacturers, and their industry partners in China - Wei Hua, Genten, Tritone Shoe Corporation, Daphne and Feng Tay - the tournament raised nearly $500,000, more than doubling the sum raised in the inaugural event a year ago.

All proceeds from this tournament will be donated to the following established charities: Two Ten Footwear Foundation, an organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those in the footwear industry, The China Initiative, a ground-breaking collaborative effort between Harvard School of Public Health and the Chinese Central Government, Children's Welfare Institution of Dongguan City, educating and restoring good health to abandoned children and orphans, Soong Ching Ling Foundation, a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to caring for children through a variety of life-enrichment programs, enhancing international relations and maintaining world peace, and Zhongshan Young Volunteer Association, an all volunteer body that serves the Zhongshan community at all levels through a variety of social outreach, arts and environmental programs.

H.H. Brown and its partners in China worked with local government officials to select these organizations based on their missions to deliver immediate relief, plus long-term health and educational programs that empower the area’s young people to build better futures for themselves.

In addition to charitable giving on a worldwide scale, the three-day event also provided a valuable opportunity for sponsors and participants to network and build stronger, long-lasting business relationships. It is the belief of H.H. Brown and the other major sponsors that promoting positive change from both a professional and humanitarian standpoint is essential, at home and in the global marketplace and community.
